Ecological Transitions

ISAE Group – A key player in the sustainable aerospace sector

Alongside industries and institutions, the ISAE Group has defined a strategy contributing to the development of a sustainable aerospace sector. Four strategic focus areas have been defined:

  • Training new generations of engineers in the challenges of the ecological transition in the aerospace sector and preparing them to take part in the public debate;
  • Reinforcing our research activities in the direction of the ecological transition;
  • Participating in discussions on the future of the sector with industries and institutions;
  • Being exemplary in the way we operate on our campuses.

The ISAE Group’s actions in this area are coordinated in a special commission called “Ecological Transitions”, made up of a reference supervisor and a student representative from each school.

The ISAE Group’s schools are aiming for the DD&RS accreditation

Under the impetus of the ISAE Group, and in particular its Ecological Transitions Committee, most of the ISAE Group’s schools are progressively working towards the ‘Sustainable Development and Social Responsibility’ (DD&RS) accreditation. The DD&RS certification, which comprises several levels of maturity, assesses institutions’ approaches across five key areas: governance, education, research, environmental management and social policy. This systematic analysis framework covers all 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) defined by the UN. Administered by CIRSES, the certification enables participating institutions to embed a culture of continuous improvement, share best practices and promote their initiatives at a national level. Three schools within the ISAE Group currently hold the certification: ISAE-SUPAERO, ENAC and ESTIA.
